Comfort in Food

Comfort is a way in which we find satisfaction and in some cases that involves food. Whether we had a bad day or something is bothering us, certain comfort foods are a fix to the stress that finds us. Food helps build a security and even is proven to show a psychological presence of comfort.

Scientific View Point:

Neuroscientist define comfort food as the opposite of stress. Sugar and starch activate serotonin, a neurotransmitter known to increase a sense of well-being or comfort. Salty foods spur oxytocin, aka the “cuddle chemical,” a hormone that is also activated when given a hug.
